Eco2Solar reaches record carbon offset figures
When Paul Hutchens first formed Eco2Solar to install solar energy, he had a vision to help combat the effects of climate change by making solar standard on all homes.
At the end of the first year of installing solar PV, Eco2Solar had installed solar PV systems on a total of 94 properties throughout the UK.
This figure has steadily grown year-on-year, and as we now approach the end of 2020, we are proud to have installed a total of 17,414 solar systems nationwide, which have collectively generated and offset 31,694,819 kWh of energy.
To put it into perspective, that’s enough energy to make a monumental 10 billion cups of tea! It’s also the equivalent of driving over 93 million road miles or flying nearly 53 million air miles.
Crucially though, that number of kilowatts could power an incredible 7923 homes every year with clean energy – the equivalent of almost the entire town of Stourport-on-Severn, Gerrards Cross or Dumbarton.
“There’s no doubt that we’re moving towards a future that’s powered by more electricity and less – or ideally no – fossil fuels,” says our CEO, Paul Hutchens.
“To reach global Net Zero targets, we’re going to need more renewables to create that electricity – and solar energy gives us a clear path towards a more sustainable future where clean power is generated and delivered at local level.
“The energy offsetting figure we’re at right now is really encouraging, and we’ll continue to encourage housebuilders, local authorities and consumers to make solar a priority.”
